It appears that asteroids are hitting Earth more commonly than previously thought.

B612 foundation released information on the frequency with which the Earth is hit by asteroids.

The organisation says that red tape is making it tougher for researchers to study and characterize asteroid strikes.

The current network of sensors already in operation had detected 26 explosion on Earth between 2000 and 2013, ranging from one to 600 kilotons that was caused by asteroid impacts.

“The fact that none of these asteroid impacts shown in the video was detected in advance is proof that the only thing preventing a catastrophe from a city-killer-sized asteroid is blind luck,” Lu said in a statement.
