WTC2 South Tower

  • From Boston’s Logan International Airport bound for Los Angeles International Airport
  • 70 people (56 passengers, 9 crew and 5 hijackers)

8:14 AM: Plane departs from Boston

8:42 AM: Hijacked above northwest New Jersey, about 60 miles (100 km) northwest of New York City.

9:03 AM: Crashes between floors 77 and 85 of South face of the South Tower (WTC2)

9:59 AM: The South Tower (WTC2) collapses, 56 minutes after being struck

8:50 AM: hijacked as it nears the border of West Virginia and Ohio

9:38 AM: Flight 77 crashes’ into the western side of The Pentagon

Hani Hanjour was the Lead hijacker-pilot. All were kill including additional 125 on the ground.

White House

  • United Airlines Flight 93 – Boeing 757 N591UA
  • From Newark International Airport (now Newark Liberty International Airport), bound for San Francisco International Airport.
  • 48 people (37 passengers, 7 crew and 4 hijackers)

8:42 AM: Plane departs from Newark

9:28 AM: Flight 93 is hijacked above northern Ohio, turning to the southeast.

9:57 AM: The passengers revolt

10:03 AM: Flight 93 crashed 80 miles (129 km) southeast of Pittsburgh in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.

Revolt planned by Todd Beamer, Mark Bingham, Tom Burnett, Jeremy Glick, and others, moving against the hijackers in an attempt to take back the plane.
