Fission
- Atoms separate into smaller atoms
- Use in nuclear power plants
- Can be used to make an atomic bomb
- Radiation can stick around for years
Fusion
- Atoms fuse together to make bigger atoms
- The Sun is a fusion reactor
- Can be used to make a hydrogen bomb (learnt in the 40s/40s after fission bombs)
- Radiation can stick around for days
Note that Iron (Fe) is the most stable element. Fusion is the process of which atoms are fused together as to create a more stable atom, and Fission is the process as to break larger atoms into more stable versions.
